Digital Filing Cabinet/Tools

[edit] Introduction
The overall DFC project is creating filing cabinets for a number of different disciplines and specific audiences. Thus, for example, a a third grade teacher can benefit from a Math DFC but may have little interest in a Secondary School History filing cabinet.
However, there are a number of discipline-independent components of a filing cabinet that are of potential use to a broad range of educators. Two major examples are:
- Tools (application software) that many different educators and students will find useful.
- General education articles that help to build foundational knowledge in education. For example, pages about the overall goals of education and pages about the overall field of Information and Communications Technology fit into this category.
[edit] Some Broadly Applicable Tools
Tools listed in this section often come in both commercial versions and free versions. For the most part, we focus on free tools. Note, however, often a school of school district will provide a tool to its teachers. Thus, the tool is free from the point of view of the teachers.
