Teachers should be expected to design engaging work for all students using various resources such as the internet, books, field trips, textbooks, media, and other technologies to ensure meaningful and relevant work to the students. Technology is an important tool and a huge part of our future. Kids love technology and it also helps teachers in so many new ways. Technology should be used as much as possible.

How do we engage students into our lesson? Use technology! There are many ways to grab students but the best way is to find out their interests. We want our students to become self-motivated. Stickers, gold stars, and other rewards are great, but the real satisfaction comes from the student who enjoys learning and achieves for personal goal.

Being so present in our everyday lives and future of our student’s lives, technology is a great way tool to bring meaning to learning and practice the skills necessary to survive in our multimedia world. We want to give our all our students challenging activities with an end product. The students should also be given a focus for their product they are working on and clear expectations with standards, brining meaning and fulfillment to the student. Products created using the computer can be easily saved to share with students the next year, and take up less space!

In a multimedia world, students are not always going to be content sitting in straight rows like the environment of my elementary classroom experience, and memorizing facts which I remember always practicing. This can now be changed because we have access to so many technology tools which involve and engage students so much more. For teachers to design engaging work for our students, teachers must have access to technology to assist them in getting students to this higher level thinking. Students also need to perform research using the internet along with other sources so they may develop skills needed to analyze, integrate, compare and evaluate different information. Technology training must be available for both teachers and students. We should be using technology to communicate and exchange ideas with our students, each other, parents, peers, administration and the community.
